A small addition to a classic William Bain Sr designed home.

This addition to a 1940s residence in Seattle's Windermere neighborhood, originally designed by NBBJ founding principal William J. Bain Sr., accommodates a new primary bedroom suite. Continuing the architectural language of the original residence, the single-story addition creates a new private courtyard space in relation to the existing home. The addition includes a bathroom, bedroom, and ample closet space, connecting to private views of the surrounding garden while offering Lake Washington views. Interior details incorporate curved elements that pay homage to the formal qualities of the original home.
