Hotel in Lishui, ChinaLishui, China, Currently in DesignMaster Plan by The Miller/Hull PartnershipHotel Project Team: Robert Hutchison, Scott Claassen, Wenjing Zhang, Matt FujimotoRHA was invited by The Miller/Hull Partnership to assist their design team on a large mixed use resort project located along a reservoir near the City of Lishui, in the mountainous region south of Shanghai and Beijing. RHA was asked to design the 250 unit Hotel for the project, as well as the adjoining Swimming Pavilion. Lishui has a monsoon-influenced humid subtropical climate, with short, mild winters and long, very hot and humid summers. The climate directly influenced the conceptual basis of our design. With the desire to avoid the ubiquitous single-story, double-loaded corridor found in the typical hotel building, we propose an outdoor, multi-story, covered circulation space which provides for natural light and ventilation throughout the building.
